According to a new study from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the percentage of U.S. children under two years old who haven't received any recommended vaccinations quadrupled in the past 17 years.

Dr. Sharon Nachman, Division Chief of Pediatric Infectious Diseases and Professor of Pediatrics at Stony Brook Children's Hospital is available to discuss the trends in vaccination coverage and provide tips for parents to keep their child safe.

Her comments on vaccinations:

  • Vaccination provides community protection for all, even those unable to get them.
  • By vaccinating ourselves and our children, we protect all members of the household, even the elderly.
  • Preventable diseases come back if we don't prevent them, and too many have no treatments. So by the time we see them, it's too late.
