Robert Garofalo, MD, MPH, is the Division Head of Adolescent Medicine at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children鈥檚 Hospital of Chicago and a Professor of Pediatrics at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. He is a Co-Director of Lurie Children鈥檚 Gender and Sex Development Program, the first comprehensive program for gender nonconforming children and adolescents in the Midwest. Dr. Garofalo also directs Lurie Children鈥檚 Adolescent/Young Adult HIV Program and the Center for Gender, Sexuality and HIV Prevention, which conducts research on topics in adolescent sexual health, gender, sexuality, HIV prevention and health disparities affecting adolescent and young adult populations at risk of acquiring HIV. He is a national expert on lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) health issues in youth, as well as adolescent sexuality and HIV clinical care and prevention. Dr. Garofalo is the former President of the Gay and Lesbian Medical Association. In 2010, he served as a committee member for the National Academy of Sciences/Institute of Medicine Committee on Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Health Issues and Research Gaps and Opportunities.  

McCune has written widely on issues relating to masculinity, particularly black masculinity, as well as queer studies, sexuality theory, critical race theory, performance studies and popular culture. His book, 鈥淪exual Discretion: Black Masculinity and the Politics of Passing鈥� (University of Chicago Press, 2014), examines the lives of African-American men who have sex with men while maintaining a heterosexual lifestyle in public.

Alison Gash is an academic expert in United States courts, gender, race, sexuality, same-sex marriage, constitutional rights and public policy. At the University of Oregon, she is an associate professor of political science. Her research explores how advocates work to overcome contentious policy debates and how their efforts ultimately influence the "facts on the ground." She is the author of Below the Radar: How Silence Can Save Civil Rights (Oxford University Press 2015). Her work as been featured in Washington Monthly, Politico, Slate, Huffington Post, Newsweek and The Conversation. 

Robert-Paul Juster is a neuroscience researcher. His research mainly focuses on the study of chronic stress by considering the effects of gender, sex, sexual orientation and gender identity.
Dr. Juster's research interests include the study of allostatic load, a measure of the long-term consequences of the effects of chronic stress in people. In his studies, he takes into account variables linked to gender and sex to identify possible differences and explanations. Doctor Juster is interested in both the biological and social determinants of chronic stress. In addition to being a researcher, he is director and founder of the Center for Studies on Sex*Gender, Allostasis, and Resilience (CESAR).
