Dr. Joseph Donelan is a Professor in the Department of Accounting and Finance.

Donelan, a licensed CPA, has published 22 peer-reviewed articles related to financial reporting, CPA practice management, managerial finance, information systems, and accounting education. His work has appeared in Journal of Accountancy, Accounting Horizons, Management Accounting, CPA Journal, Journal of Cost Management, and the Journal of Accounting Education.

Donelan鈥檚 publications include an examination of Compustat鈥檚 reporting of cost of goods sold, accounting information systems using Excel, a study of ethics in loan collateral reporting, and reports on the impact of the trend to require 150 semester hours of education for students to become successful CPAs. His research included effects on curriculum and students.

His Ph.D., from St. Louis University, is in Accounting/Finance. He also has an MBA from Southern Illinois University and a B.A. in Accounting from Bradley University.

From 1976 through 1980, Dr. Donelan worked in public accounting with Ernst & Ernst, the predecessor of Ernst & Young. During his academic career, Dr. Donelan has engaged eight faculty internships--two with Hewlett Packard and six with a large regional firm, Carr, Riggs, & Ingram.

Ahmed Abbasi is the Joe and Jane Giovanini Professor of IT, Analytics, and Operations. He serves as Director of the Analytics Ph.D. program and Co-Director of the Human-centered Analytics Lab. Ahmed completed his Ph.D. work in Information Systems at the University of Arizona鈥檚 Artificial Intelligence (AI) Lab. He attained an M.B.A. and B.S. in Information Technology from Virginia Tech. His research interests relate to text and predictive analytics. Ahmed has published nearly one hundred articles in journals and conferences, including several in top-tier outlets such as MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Research (ISR), Journal of MIS, ACM TOIS, IEEE TKDE, and IEEE Intelligent Systems. His work has been funded by over a dozen grants from the National Science Foundation and industry partners such as Microsoft, eBay, Deloitte, and Oracle. Ahmed serves as Senior Editor for ISR and Associate Editor for ACM TMIS and IEEE Intelligent Systems. He is a recipient of the IEEE Technical Achievement Award, INFORMS Design Science Award, and IBM Faculty Award. Ahmed鈥檚 work has been featured in various media outlets including the Wall Street Journal, Harvard Business Review, the Associated Press, WIRED, CBS, and Fox.

Balaji Padmanabhan has a bachelor's degree in computer science from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras and a PhD from New York University’s Stern School of Business and has worked in the data science, AI/machine learning and business analytics areas for 25 years. His current work addresses the design of artificial and augmented intelligence solutions that combine data, machine learning and modeling the real-world through complex systems simulations and has broad applications across business, policy, media and healthcare. He has published extensively in data science and related areas at premier journals and conferences in the field and has served on the editorial board of leading journals including Management Science, MIS Quarterly, INFORMS Journal on Computing, Information Systems Research, Big Data, ACM Transactions on MIS and the Journal of Business Analytics.

Professor George Siemens researches networks, analytics, and human and artificial cognition in education. He has delivered keynote addresses in more than 35 countries on the influence of technology and media on education, organizations, and society. His work has been profiled in provincial, national, and international newspapers (including NY Times), radio, and television. He has served as PI or Co-PI on grants with funding from NSF, SSHRC (Canada), Intel, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Boeing, and the Soros Foundation. He has served as a collaborator on international grants in European Union, Singapore, Australia, Senegal, Ghana, and UK. He has received numerous awards, including honorary doctorates from Universidad de San Martín de Porres and Fraser Valley University for his pioneering work in learning, technology, and networks. He holds an honorary professorship with University of Edinburgh. Professor Siemens is a founding President of the Society for Learning Analytics Research. In 2008, he pioneered massive open online courses (sometimes referred to as MOOCs).
