Anne-Marie Slaughter is the CEO of New America, a think 鈥媋nd action 鈥媡ank dedicated to renewing the promise of America, bringing us closer to our nation's highest ideals. She is also the Bert G. Kerstetter '66 University Professor Emerita of Politics and International Affairs at Princeton University. From 2009鈥2011, she served as director of policy planning for the United States Department of State, the first woman to hold that position. Upon leaving the State Department she received the Secretary鈥檚 Distinguished Service Award for her work leading the Quadrennial Diplomacy and Development Review, as well as meritorious service awards from USAID and the Supreme Allied Commander for Europe. Prior to her government service, Dr. Slaughter was the Dean of Princeton University's School of Public and International Affairs (formerly the Woodrow Wilson School) from 2002鈥2009 and the J. Sinclair Armstrong Professor of International, Foreign, and Comparative Law at Harvard Law School from 1994-2002.

Dr. Slaughter has written or edited eight鈥 books, including 鈥婽he Chessboard and the Web: Strategies of Connection in a Networked World (2017)鈥, Unfinished Business: Women, Men, Work, Family (2015), The Idea That Is America: Keeping Faith with Our Values in a Dangerous World (2007)鈥, and 鈥婣 New World Order (2004), 鈥媋s well as over 100 scholarly articles. She was the convener and academic co-chair, with Professor John Ikenberry, of the Princeton Project on National Security, a multi-year research project aimed at developing a new, bipartisan national security strategy for the United States. In 2012 she published the article 鈥淲hy Women Still Can鈥檛 Have It All,鈥 in the Atlantic, which quickly became the most-read article in the history of the magazine and helped spawn a renewed national debate on the continued obstacles to genuine full male-female equality.

Dr. Slaughter is a contributing editor to the Financial Times and writes a bi-monthly column for Project Syndicate. She provides frequent commentary for both mainstream and new media and curates foreign policy news for over 140,000 followers on Twitter. Foreign Policy magazine named her to their annual list of the Top 100 Global Thinkers in 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012. She received a B.A. from Princeton, an M.Phil and D.Phil in international relations from Oxford, where she was a Daniel M. Sachs Scholar, and a J.D. from Harvard.

Jonathan Brand became the 15th president of Cornell College in July 2011. Under his leadership and thanks to two consecutive institutional strategic plans, the college continues to anticipate and respond to the needs and wants of students. This includes launching new academic programs, developing a , strengthening student support services, starting a , and adding intercollegiate sports. The college opened a  and renovated its Thomas Commons, first-year residence halls, numerous academic buildings, and an expanded athletics facility. The recent $80 million Greater>Than campaign resulted in gifts of $118 million. 

Before coming to Cornell, he served six years as President of Doane College in Crete, Nebraska, and seven years as Vice President of Institutional and Budget Planning and Special Assistant and Counsel to the President at Grinnell College.

Brand teaches in Cornell’s Department of Politics. His writing on higher education includes a chapter in the book “Making College Better: Views from the Top,” an ongoing , and articles in the Chronicle of Higher Education and The Huffington Post. He has spoken at conferences sponsored by the NCAA and the Council of Independent Colleges, among others.

He is an avid runner, practicing with the college’s track and cross-country teams and competing in 12 marathons.

Brand has been involved with Cornell’s  and he is on the advisory committee for the Law School Admission Council’s  to help students develop the skills necessary for success in law. He is a member of the board of directors of the Putney Open Door Fund, which offers scholarship support for economically disadvantaged high school students, and has led the annual fundraising for the Iowa Peace Institute, a non-profit organization committed to alternative dispute resolution.

He holds a law degree from Cornell University, a master's degree in French literature from the University of Michigan, and a bachelor's degree in history and French from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Stacey Lee, JD, is an Associate Professor of Practice with expertise in business law, health law, and negotiations.鈥疭he is the Academic Program Director for the flagship Full-time MBA program and the Teaching Excellence Initiative Faculty Director. She holds a joint appointment at the Bloomberg School of Public Health. Her research interests have focused on pharmaceutical manufacturers鈥 international and domestic influence on access to medicines and transformative health care negotiations. 

Before entering academia, Lee practiced law for over 10 years. She began as a securities litigator and later became in-house counsel for two of the country鈥檚 largest health care corporations. She also served as the senior regulatory specialist for the United States鈥 largest national health care trade association. 

She is a Fulbright Specialist for her expertise in negotiations and health care law, and has received numerous research grants and fellowships for her teaching innovations. Her research has focused on how COVID-19 laws and policies affect the employer/employee relationship. She has received several awards for faculty excellence, including the Excellence in Teaching Award, year after year, at both Bloomberg and Carey. In addition, she was a featured TEDx speaker on 鈥淧atient Voices.鈥 

Her interviews, quotes, and writings have appeared on鈥疌BS, CNN, Bloomberg Radio, USA Today, NPR, TODAY.com, and Voice of America, among other media outlets. Lee鈥檚 work has also been featured in several law reviews and peer-reviewed journals such as Journal of Business Ethics, Yale Journal of Health Policy and Ethics, Annals of Health Law, Aesthetic Surgery Journal, and Health and Human Rights International Journal.
