Michael Siegel is a Professor in the Department of Public Health and Community Medicine at Tufts University School of Medicine. His research focuses in the areas of guns/firearms, alcohol and tobacco as they relate to public health. Tying this work together is the study of corporate influences on health--especially advertising and marketing--and strategies to counteract them. More recently, his research has focused on racial inequities in health and the role of structural racism in causing these inequities. His teaching has primarily been in the areas of public health advocacy, social and behavioral sciences in public health, social marketing, and health communication.

Dariotis investigates biosocial determinants of risk-taking, decision-making, stress responsivity and coping, and prevention and intervention programs (e.g., mindfulness-related). She addresses “wicked” problems through whole person research integrating theoretical and methodological approaches across many disciplines—public health, prevention science, biostatistics, evaluation and implementation sciences, behavioral endocrinology, and developmental psychopathology.

Meera Gatlin , DVM

Dr. Meera Gatlin is an assistant teaching professor of public health in the Department of Infectious Disease and Global Health at Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine. She is also the track leader for the combined DVM/MPH degree program in collaboration with the Tufts School of Medicine, mentoring 10-15 students at any time pursuing both these degrees.

Dr. Gatlin received her BA in biological sciences and political sciences from Northwestern University (Evanston, IL) in 2012 and her DVM and MPH degrees from Tufts University (North Grafton, MA). She pursued small animal practice in central Massachusetts, with a special focus on canine reproductive services. She has also worked on STD/STI surveillance at the Evanston Health Department (Evanston, IL) as well as food-borne disease outbreaks at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Atlanta, GA). She is board certified in the American College of Veterinary Preventive Medicine.

Her academic and research interests include public health education, participatory education, food protection, and canine theriogenology education.

Sarmad Sadeghi, MD

Dr. Sarmad Sadeghi earned his medical degree at Tehran University of Medical Sciences. He has a Master of Science degree (MS) in Health Information Sciences and a Doctor of Philosophy degree (PhD) in Public Health Management and Policy Sciences from the University of Texas Health Sciences Center at Houston.
He completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston and the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. He completed his hematology/oncology fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Taussig Cancer Institute. Dr. Sadeghi joined the faculty at the division of oncology of University of Southern California in 2013 and has a clinical and research focus in genitourinary malignancies, specifically bladder, kidney and prostate cancers.
Dr. Sadeghi is the study chair and principal investigator of a number of multicenter clinical trials and is also an active member of SWOG cooperative group and the California Cancer Consortium.
Dr. Sadeghi is well published with several original articles and abstracts in peer reviewed journals and international meetings.

Dr. Erfani graduated from the School of Medicine at the National University of Iran, Tehran, Iran in 2014. He was offered a full scholarship to study MPH in 2013 and graduated from the School of Public Health in 2015. Seyed Hadi is currently a Post-doctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, where he is involved in multiple clinical, basic science and epidemiologic research projects related to Obstetrics and Gynecology and Maternal Fetal Medicine.

Jessica heads up the Washington D.C. office for , where our team of lawyers, analysts and policy experts leverage federal and state legislation, regulation, litigation, and multilateral engagement to secure public investments and ensure a level playing field for alternative proteins. Jessica has expertise in the U.S. regulatory landscape for alternative proteins (including cultivated/lab grown meat and plant based foods), and can also speak to how governments around the world are choosing to invest in alternative proteins. Prior to GFI, she advanced the public interest through policy and litigation at the Center for Science in the Public Interest and the D.C.-based law firm Meyer Glitzenstein & Crystal. Jessica holds a J.D. from New York University School of Law and an M.S. in Animals and Public Policy from Tufts University.

Yvens Laborde, MD

Yvens Laborde, MD, leads Ochsner’s community health programs and promotes the organization’s outreach programs to improve health outcomes for at-risk populations. He was a founding member of the Ochsner Health Disparities Task Force.

Since joining Ochsner in 1995, Dr. Laborde has served in a number of leadership positions while maintaining a clinical practice. He led efforts in establishing the first inpatient hospital medicine service in New Orleans’ Westbank area, where he also served as medical director for Ochsner nursing home patients. He was an early adopter of incorporating advanced practice providers into his practice.

A native of Port au Prince, Haiti, Dr. Laborde was instrumental in Ochsner’s relief efforts in Haiti following the devastating 2010 earthquake. He served as a co-leader of Ochsner’s on-the-ground relief efforts in the Bahamas after Hurricane Dorian in 2019.

Dr. Laborde completed his undergraduate studies in New Orleans then earned a medical degree from the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport. He completed an internship in internal medicine at Tulane University in New Orleans and a residency in internal medicine at Ochsner Health System. He is board certified in internal medicine.

He is the first Black physician elected to the Ochsner Health System board of directors and served two terms from 2006-2013. Among his numerous professional honors, he was a finalist for the 2017 U.S. Cooperative for International Patient Programs International Humanitarian and Global Health Leader Award.
