Newswise — Newswise lead the innovation in the delivery of high-quality, credible news to journalists for 18 years, and now, by adding RSS feeds for each of the Newswise Channels, we are providing even more ways for users to receive customized content. (What are RSS feeds? Read more about RSS feeds on Wikipedia)
The Newswise Channels function as a portal to news feeds sorted by topic, helping the media to easily browse articles organized under a more specific filter. Popular Channels on cancer research, the environment, and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, for example, help journalists quickly find the latest story on the beats they cover.
Now these Newswise Channels are also available by RSS feed.
Reporters and public users reading Newswise can subscribe to follow their favorite Channel topic via RSS feed – enabling instant updates on popular RSS applications such as Google Reader, or through their web browser’s bookmarks.
“We are looking forward to providing more customized content to our reporter-subscribers,” says Newswise President, Roger S. Johnson, PhD. “Features such as these RSS feeds help to meet the needs of journalists by giving them the highest quality news, delivered with the best modern technology.”
The Newswise Channels are available at: http://www.newswise.com/channels/. The menu of RSS feeds for the Channels is located here: http://www.newswise.com/channels/rss.
This development is largely in response to reporter requests for updates on topic-specific news. Newswise is continually looking for creative, high-tech solutions to serve the media and provide them with quick, easy access to excellent leads and news sources.
"Reporters have frequently contacted us asking if we can give them a feed on a specific topic," says Newswise Media Outreach Director, Thom Canalichio. "We have always given users the ability to browse for specific stories in the Medicine, Science, Life, and Business sections. The kind of customized content possible with this new RSS feature for the Newswise Channels will allow our reporters to select more specific topics."
