The Castle of San Felipe de Lara is located near the northeastern shores of Lake Izabal, where the lake meets the Dulce River. Constructed in the 17th century, this castle is considered a historic site. A research team led by Dr. Jonathan Obrist-Farner intends to study sediment samples throughout this area that date back thousands of years before the structure was built.
