Mass Timber Coalition awarded $41.4 million in federal funds to advance use of wood products in construction

An award of $14.6 million will go toward building a world-class, state-of-the-art acoustic testing facility optimized for high-performance and high-throughput testing for sound-dampening products and construction methods. The Port of Portland is the planned facility location.

The Build Back Better grant provides $2 million for work to prototype using mass timber in affordable housing. The prototypes will be used to prove the viability of constructing small, affordable, single-family homes as well as building and retrofitting multi-story, multi-family dwellings.
