A University of West Florida Department of Mathematics and Statistics professor’s brain research was recently published in the prestigious journal Nature Communications. Dr. Shusen Pu’s study focused on the prefrontal cortex, a key area of the brain responsible for higher-order functions like decision-making and memory.

UWF is launching a Master of Science in Behavior Analysis beginning in Fall 2024, pending approval from the Florida Board of Governors. The proposed graduate degree will be offered online and housed in the Health Sciences & Administration within the Usha Kundu, MD College of Health.
A research team composed of faculty from UWF, the Florida Institute of Technology, Florida Gulf Coast University and New College of Florida was recently awarded $200,000 from the Gulf of Mexico Alliance for their project, “An AI-Directed Tool Development for Pathogenic ‘Flesh-eating’ Vibrio Bacteria Prediction and Control.”
UWF Hal Marcus College of Science and Engineering recently received a gift from Diane Miller to name the James E. Miller Bachelor and Master of Science in Computer Science programs in honor of her late husband.

A $150,000 gift to UWF established the Elizabeth S. Calhoun Endowment for Industrial Careers and named the Elizabeth S. Calhoun Analytical Lab, which will benefit undergraduate chemistry majors in UWF Hal Marcus College of Science and Engineering.
