Have a Science-Based Food Innovation? Can We Talk?

Newswise — Washington D.C. – IAFNS, the Institute for the Advancement of Food and Nutrition Sciences, is now seeking abstracts from innovators to present their work as part of an exciting virtual Science Innovation Showcase set for December 14-15, 2021.

This unique event will bring university, industry, venture investment, non-profit and government experts together to share breakthrough ideas.

The IAFNS Science Innovation Showcase is the only dedicated event focusing on the science and underlying data of innovative ingredients, products and tools which can be applied in the food and beverage sector. The showcase will focus on:

• Food ingredients
  • Sodium reduction solutions (e.g. NaCl replacers)
  • Sugar reduction technologies (e.g. low- and no-calorie sweeteners)
  • Health promoting carbohydrates (e.g. fiber or non-digestible carbohydrates)
  • Novel protein sources (e.g. alternative proteins)
• Food packaging
• Food pathogen testing

With the challenges of moving an idea to a prototype and on to the market, this science-first and science-focused dialogue will support positive change in technology development in consumer foods and beverages. The presenters will include regulatory experts, innovation center faculty, leaders from other non-profits and speakers from major corporations and emerging brands. Additionally, the program will feature a facilitated roundtable discussion between leading venture investors on how food safety and nutrition research is driving the development of new science and innovative technologies.

The Innovation Showcase agenda will review the science, the data and the new technologies being used to create products that deliver performance and functionality while remaining cost effective and overcoming regulatory barriers. There will be technical sessions addressing each of the different focus areas. By registering, you can expect to engage in discussions with representatives from government, industry and academia – along with thought leaders at other non-profit organizations.
