WASHINGTON (February 18, 2025)-  United Soccer League (USL)  is planning to launch a Division 1 men's league to rival MLS, similar to NWSL and USL Super League on the women's side. The league is targeting a 2027-2028 start of the season and  reports the league will need A minimum of 12 teams to apply and 14 teams by its third year, 75% of teams in metropolitan markets of at least 1 million people, Teams located in the Eastern, Central and Pacific time zones, and Stadiums with at least 15,000 seats.
