The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has issued a recall for acne creams due to elevated levels of a potentially cancer-causing chemical, benzene.

The products include, Walgreens Acne Control Cleanser, Proactiv Skin Smoothing Exfoliator, SLMD Benzoyl Peroxide Acne Lotion and La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo Dual Action Acne Treatment.

Benzene is a chemical often used to make a range of products in the U.S. including detergents. According to the CDC, exposure to high levels of benzene in the air can cause leukemia.
