Newswise — Medical debt will no longer appear on credit reports starting in March.
The new rule from the Biden administration will get rid of $49 billion in medical debt from credit reports of 15 million Americans, which can hinder people from getting mortgage loans, car loans, and small business loans.
According to data by , one in 12 U.S. adults had medical debt as of 2021.
