In preparation for World AIDS Day on December 1, Luis Montaner, D.V.M., D. Phil., Wistar Institute professor, director of Wistar’s HIV-1 Immunopathogenesis Laboratory, and member of Wistar’s Tumor Microenvironment and Metastasis Program, is available to address the global perspective on the fight against AIDS.

Harvard University recently reproduced findings to those the Montaner lab demonstrated in 2012 on interferon-α’s ability to deplete HIV viral levels.

Now that a second lab has confirmed that interferon-α can help stimulate the immune system to control HIV and inhibit viral replication, it is likely that interferon immunotherapy will be of considerable interest in the field of HIV research.

Montaner will be conducting his second interferon-α clinical trial this spring.

As World AIDS Day approaches, let me know if you are interested in speaking to Dr. Montaner about his work in the search for a cure for this devastating illness.
