Colorectal surgeon, Harry Wasvary, M.D.,medical director of the Colon and Rectal Multidisciplinary Cancer Clinic at Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak, is available to address the new #colorectal cancer screening guidelines.
In 2010 he was part of a team that published a paper showing that 50 percent of colorectal cancer patients at Beaumont, were diagnosed outside the 50-75 year age range, specified in the previous recommendations.
“I am glad to hear the screening guidelines for colon and rectal cancers have been expanded,” Dr. Wasvary said. “Given this information and other information, we are supportive of the consideration to expand the screening recommendations in appropriate persons.”
