The team employed a wake survey rake device made of multiple tubes designed to capture the pressure downstream of the ball and examined the flow dynamics of cricket balls rotating up to 2,500 rpm in a wind tunnel. The group found that low-pressure zones expanded and intensified near the ball when spinning, while these zones shifted and diminished downstream. At higher spin rates, the low-pressure zone begins to change to a persistent bilobed shape. The results lend support to the theory that these newer bowling techniques tap into the Magnus effect. /articles//images/uploads/2024/08/08/66b4cbc1c3ca6_POF-AR-04459PRimagegraphicalabstractPOF169.jpg American Institute of Physics (AIP) Mount Sinai to Serve as Official Hospital and Medical Services Provider of the US Open for 12th Year /articles/mount-sinai-to-serve-as-official-hospital-and-medical-services-provider-of-the-us-open-for-12th-year/?sc=c80 /articles/mount-sinai-to-serve-as-official-hospital-and-medical-services-provider-of-the-us-open-for-12th-year/?sc=c80 Mon, 12 Aug 2024 10:05:44 EST Sports,Sports Medicine Medical News Announcement Mount Sinai is celebrating its 12th year as the official hospital and medical services provider of the US Open Tennis Championships, which begins with Fan Week August 19-25 and continues with the Main Draw August 26-September 8.
